Maintenance of Certification (MOC)
THE PATHWAY TO MOC
Maintenance of Certification™ (MOC) was designed by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) as a way to ensure a continuous cycle of lifelong learning for a physician’s professional development throughout his or her medical career. This program helps assure the public that board-certified physicians remain current with evolving knowledge, and that their practices meet acceptable and recognized standards.
The American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) implements the MOC program and monitors participation for its diplomates. The ABP sets standards and requirements for certification and MOC for general pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists.
